On behalf of Shri Vitthalrao Joshi Charities Trust, a Faculty Development Program (Workshop) was organized by the Department of Philosophy and Indian Knowledge System from 20th May to 25th May 2026. Professors from various departments enthusiastically participated in this workshop. The workshop covered topics such as an introduction to Indian philosophy, its methods of study, basic Sanskrit grammar with examples, stories and subhashitas (wise sayings) from Sanskrit literature, conversational Sanskrit, yoga, and more. These subjects were taught using a variety of teaching tools and techniques. The sessions were highly interactive and engaging. Teachers effectively combined audio-visual media, games, storytelling, and practical demonstrations. The hands-on activities helped participants experience concepts directly, which boosted their confidence and clarified doubts quickly. The trainers’ creative teaching methods and lively examples kept the sessions fresh and engaging. Each session began with a prayer and concluded with pranayama. The workshop was conducted by Acharya (PhD in Nyaya Shastra) Aparna Patil, Sanskrit teacher Madhavi Joshi, Indian Knowledge System trainer Rajeshji Thakkar, and Mrs. Madhuri Borkar. The valedictory function was graced by the esteemed founding member of the institution, Shri Kaka Maharaj (also known as Shri Adhik Raghunath Joshi), who blessed the participants and distributed certificates of appreciation. While expressing satisfaction over the success of the workshop, Director Dr. Suvarna Patil shared her thoughts. She encouraged participants to expand such initiatives and requested them to train and inspire others to adopt these methods. She emphasized the importance of incorporating Indian Knowledge System (IKS)-based teaching methods, including storytelling, shlokas, subhashitas, pranayama, and other enriching approaches. She highlighted that integrating such methods into teaching will help in the dissemination of knowledge and contribute to shaping a value-based and cultured future generation. Students presented some demonstrations and shared their experiences. According to the participants, such useful and knowledge-enhancing workshops should be conducted regularly. Everyone appreciated the workshop and expressed the desire for more such programs in the future.
