World No Tobacco Day was observed at SVJCT’s Samarth Nursing College on May 31 2026 to create awareness among students about the harmful effects of tobacco use and the importance of leading a healthy, tobacco-free life. The event was organized under the able leadership of Prof. Tejal Surve, Principal, and Prof. Jessey Jacob, Vice- Principal, with active support from the SNA team. As part of the observance, students delivered speeches emphasizing the health hazards associated with tobacco consumption and the need for preventive measures and awareness. The speeches highlighted the impact of tobacco on individuals, families and society. An awareness skit was also presented by the students, effectively portraying the adverse consequences of tobacco addiction and encouraging positive lifestyle choices. In addition, students performed a mime act that creatively depicted the harmful effects of tobacco use and the importance of adopting a tobacco- free lifestyle. The performances conveyed a strong message about the importance of saying no to tobacco and promoting a healthier future. The programme successfully sensitized students to the dangers of tobacco use and inspired them to become advocates for a tobacco- free society.
