The Department of Orthopaedics in association with the Department of Anatomy, B. K. L. Walawalkar Rural Medical College, Dervan successfully conducted a “Hands-on Arthroscopy One Day Cadaveric Workshop” on 24 May 2026 at the newly established Cadaveric Skill Laboratory. The workshop focused on Basic Knee Arthroscopy including ACL and Meniscus procedures and was attended enthusiastically by delegates from various institutes. The programme commenced with inauguration and ceremonial lamp lighting in the gracious presence of esteemed dignitaries including Dr. Sunil Nadkarni, Trustee and Consultant Spine Surgeon, and Dr. Netaji Patil, College Coordinator and Consultant Radiologist. Their presence and encouragement added great value to the academic event. The invited faculties, Faculty In-charge Dr. Shreya Joshi, Dr. Ravi Kerhalkar, Dr. Raghavendra Thete, Dr. Dhawal Gami and guest speakers were felicitated in recognition of their valuable contribution towards surgical education and cadaveric skill training. The scientific sessions began with a series of focused lectures covering important aspects of knee arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair techniques, triangulation, portals, and arthroscopic setup delivered by renowned orthopaedic arthroscopy experts. The academic sessions were followed by extensive hands-on cadaveric training sessions where delegates received practical exposure under expert faculty guidance. The workshop provided an excellent opportunity for participants to enhance their surgical orientation and arthroscopic skills using soft-embalmed cadaveric specimens. One of the major attractions of the workshop was the use of soft-embalmed cadavers and the newly built Cadaveric Skill Laboratory, which received immense appreciation from all delegates and faculty members. Participants expressed that the soft-embalmed cadaveric tissues provided a near-realistic operative experience with excellent joint mobility and tissue handling characteristics. Delegates appreciated the academic environment and conveyed keen interest in attending similar future cadaveric workshops conducted at the institution. The collaborative efforts between the Department of Anatomy and Department of Orthopaedics were highly appreciated by all attendees and highlighted the growing importance of interdisciplinary cadaveric skill training in modern surgical education. The organisers also acknowledged the generous support provided by industry partners including Everest Medical Technology, Om Surgical, Sironix, and Biotek Spectravision Meditech for providing arthroscopy equipment and surgical instruments required for the successful conduct of the workshop. The company executives were felicitated and appreciated for their valuable technical and logistical support. The workshop concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Prashant Moolya, Professor, Department of Anatomy and Cadaveric Skill Lab In-charge. He expressed sincere gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, delegates, company representatives, and organising teams for their contribution towards the successful completion of the programme. Special thanks were extended to Kaka Maharaj for his blessings and guidance. Gratitude was also expressed towards the management including Shri Vikas Walawalkar, Dr. Suvarna Patil (Medical Director), and Dr. Netaji Patil (College Coordinator) for their continuous encouragement and administrative support, which enabled the workshop to be conducted efficiently and successfully. The dedicated efforts of the Anatomy Department working staff, OT technicians, IT staff, and all supporting personnel working behind the scenes were specially appreciated for ensuring the smooth execution of the event. The workshop was highly successful academically and practically, marking another important step towards advancement of cadaver-based surgical training and interdisciplinary medical education at the institution.
