Inspired by the teachings of revered Shri. Kaka Maharaj, and conceptualized by Dr. Suvarna Patil (Medical Director, Bhaktashreshtha Kamalakarpant Laxmanrao Walawalkar Rural Medical College and Hospital) and Dr. Netaji Patil, the foundation stone for the student orchestra “Shivarjani” was laid at ShivSamartha Gad three years ago. This group has since built a strong tradition of captivating audiences with diverse musical performances each year. On the eve of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti (as per the Hindu lunar calendar), March 5, 2026, from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM, the orchestra showcased its experimental versatility in a memorable program.
The program opened with an instrumental-vocal medley featuring Sneha Khambe, Pranav Waghchaure, and Dr. Mihir Bairat. The ensemble performance included Peti (Aditya Bolke and Pranav Waghchaure), Tabla (Piyush Shelke and Soham Khambe), Pakhwaj (Shreyas Mane and Akash Sable), Tal (Akash Sable, Shreyas Mane, Aarti Chougule, and Sai Gokhale), and Flute (Gaurav Ravanag), elevating the entire musical experiment. Notably, the Surpeti, Tabla, and Pakhwaj instruments, gifted by Honorable Shri. Vikas Walawalkar as encouragement for the Shivarjani student artists, proved invaluable in bringing this vision to life.
Later, talented singer Sneha Khambe (who completed her B.Sc. Nursing internship) performed “He Bhaskara.” Dr. Mihir Bairat (MD Radiology trainee) delivered the devotional “Vitthal Avadi Prembhavo” with his signature skill, joined by final-year MBBS student Pranav Waghchaure in his unique style on “Ye Ga Ye Ga Vithabai” and “Man Mandira,” sustaining the program’s high quality from start to finish.
Later, songs like “Runujhunu Runujhunu Re Bhramara” (Sneha Khambe), “Bagh Ughdoni Daar” (performed with great enthusiasm by Third-Year MBBS students Nikhil Talap, Aditya Bolke, and Shreyas Mane), and “Abir Gulal” (Dr. Mihir Bairat) added vibrant color to the program. Sneha Khambe’s deeply devoted rendition of “Prabho Shivaji Raja” by Swatantra Surya Savarkar thrilled the entire audience.
Other songs that brought a fresh dimension included: “Hi Duniya Mayajaal” (Nikhil Talap and Aditya Bolke), “Jeev Rangala” (Dr. Mihir Bairat and Sneha Khambe), “Tum Pukar Lo” (Nikhil Talap), and “Shukratara Mand Vara” (Sneha Khambe and Soham Khambe). The fusion performance by second-year B.Sc. Nursing students Gaurav Ravanag (flute) and Soham Khambe (drums) received widespread appreciation.
Towards the end of the program, the songs “Albela Sajan Ayo Re” performed by Pranav Waghchoure and “Mala Sanga Sukh Mhanti Nakki Kay Atta” sung by Dr. Mihir Bairat enchanted everyone. Dr. Mihir Bairat and Pranav Waghchoure performed the famous composition of Sant Eknath “Donhi Sarakhe Sarakhe” on tabla with Piyush Shelke (Final Year MBBS) and Soham Khambe, as well as Akash Sable (Final Year BSc Nursing) and Shreyas Mane, Tal Aarti Chougule and Sai Gokhale (First Year MBBS) on pakhwaj, and added to it the abhanga “Hechi Daan Dega Deva”, and then concluded the program by chanting “Vitthal, Vitthal”.
The entire program was coordinated by the art and cultural organization “Mrudgandh,” with structuring managed by its chief coordinator and guide, Dr. Advait Godse (Associate Professor, Department of Physiology). Dr. Godse also authored the program’s script. Moderation was handled by Ishwari Ithape (Second Year MBBS), Rama Shetye (Third Year B.Sc. Psychology), Shreya Patekar (Final Year B.Sc. Nursing), and Dr. Advait Godse.Attendees included Shri. Vikas Walawalkar, Mrs. Mukta Walawalkar, Shri. Shripati Walawalkar, Vice Chancellor of the proposed Shri. Vitthalrao Joshi University and renowned oncologist Dr. Shripad Banawali, Shri. Vijay Joshi, Medical Director Dr. Suvarna Patil, Dr. Netaji Patil, and others.
