The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, in association with the Department of Anatomy, successfully organized a Masterclass in Gynecological Laparoscopy from 3rd to 5th April 2026 at B.K.L. Walawalkar Rural Medical College & Hospital.
The three-day workshop was designed to provide comprehensive training in gynecological laparoscopy and included didactic lectures, dry lab skill sessions, cadaveric demonstrations, two days of hands-on cadaveric dissection, and live surgical demonstrations. A total of 16 participants actively took part in the program, gaining valuable practical exposure and skill-based learning.
The expert faculty for the workshop included Prof. Dr. Prashant Bhamare (Chief Faculty), Dr. Pankaj Kulkarni, Dr. Ashish Parulekar, Prof. Dr. Sanjay Patil, Dr. Mallika Shetye, and Prof. Dr. Prashant Moolya, who guided the participants throughout both academic and hands-on sessions.
Chief Faculty Dr. Prashant Bhamare appreciated the advanced cadaveric skill lab facilities and the quality of soft-embalmed cadavers at the institution, noting that the training infrastructure is at par with international standards. Participants also shared highly positive feedback, describing the workshop as an enriching and impactful learning experience.
A notable highlight of the program was the use of 3D anatomy models through Smart TV-based teaching, which served as an innovative approach to enhance anatomical understanding in laparoscopic training.
The workshop concluded successfully, offering an excellent platform for integrating anatomical knowledge with practical laparoscopic surgical skills.
