The State-Level School Kabaddi Championship was successfully held at the SVJCT Sports Academy on November 8 & 9, 2025. The event saw enthusiastic participation from eight divisions—Nagpur, Amravati, Pune, Mumbai, Ch. Sambhaji Nagar, Latur, Nashik, and Kolhapur—with a total of 136 players, including 96 competitors and 40 for selection trials. The tournament was specifically organized for boys under 14 years of age, and all participating teams showcased remarkable talent and sportsmanship.

The event was inaugurated in the presence of several dignitaries, including Suhas Patil (Deputy Director, Kolhapur Division), Vijay Shinde (District Sports Officer), Girish Iranak, Sayali Keripale,(international player and selection committee member), Dinesh Chavan,(committee members), Ruturaj Korvi (international player), Sunil Dharurkar, Sunil Koli (Sports Officer), Sachin Mandavkar (State Sports Guide), Shreekant Paradkar (Sports Director), Sudhir Sawant (Chief Referee), and other referee committee members.In the knockout-format tournament, the Kolhapur team dominated the finals in the under-14 boys’ category, securing an emphatic, one-sided victory over the Latur team with a 20-point lead and clinching the championship for the second consecutive year. In an intense playoff for third place, the Amravati team outperformed Pune to secure the bronze medal.The winning players have been selected to represent Maharashtra at the upcoming 69th National Kabaddi Championship scheduled to be held in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. At the award ceremony, the victorious teams were honored with medals and certificates presented by the distinguished guests.

A highlight of this year’s championship was the use of a state-of-the-art, fully indoor, and technologically advanced mat facility. Players benefitted from an international-standard environment that boosted their confidence and playing quality—a fact acknowledged by coaches from across the participating teams.
