A one-day workshop on ‘Medico-Legal Case Handling’ and ‘Forensic Practices’ was successfully conducted for the Police Officers and Enforcers of the Ratnagiri District Police Force on 22nd September 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at B.K.L. Walawalkar Rural Medical College and Hospital, Sawarde.

The workshop aimed to enhance collaboration between the medical and law enforcement sectors, providing officers with essential knowledge and practical insights into medico-legal documentation, forensic evidence handling, and ethical aspects of investigation.

The event was graced by Hon. Superintendent of Police, Ratnagiri District, Shri Dhananjay Kulkarni, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Chiplun Division) Shri Rajendra Kumar Rajmane, and Assistant Police Inspector, Sawarde Police Station, Shri Jayant Gaikwad.

Representing the medical fraternity, Medical Director Dr. Suvarna Patil, Dr. Netaji Patil, Dr. Mansingh Ghatage, Head of the Forensic Department Dr. Avinash Waghmode, and Associate Professor Dr. Laxman Phad led the academic and training sessions.

More than 150 police officers and enforcers participated in the program, engaging actively in discussions and practical demonstrations. In his address, Superintendent Shri Dhananjay Kulkarni appreciated the innovative initiative and acknowledged the trust’s continuous contribution toward social, educational, and healthcare development in the region.

The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A session, reaffirming the importance of interdepartmental cooperation in ensuring justice and medical ethics.
