Samarth Nursing College solemnly organized the Lamp Lighting Ceremony 2026 on 9th January 2026 at 10:00 AM in the Multipurpose Hall. The programme marked the formal induction of the 1st year ANM, 1st year GNM, and 1st semester B.Sc. Nursing students into the noble profession of nursing. The ceremony symbolized the transmission of knowledge, compassion, and commitment to service. The felicitation of the chief guest, Dr. Nancy Fernandes, was carried out by the respected Principal, Prof. Tejal Surve, as a token of respect and gratitude for her esteemed presence. This was followed by the preface of the programme, wherein the objectives and importance of the ceremony were emphasized. The importance of the Lamp Lighting Ceremony was expressed by Prof. Jessey Jacob, who inspired the students by highlighting the ethical values, compassion, discipline, and responsibility expected from nursing professionals. Subsequently, the lamp passing ceremony was conducted by Prof. Jessey Jacob, who passed the lamp to the respective class coordinators, symbolizing the sharing of knowledge and responsibility. This was followed by the oath-taking ceremony, administered by Principal Prof. Tejal Surve, and solemnly repeated by the students, pledging to uphold the values, ethics, and standards of the nursing profession. The guest speech by Dr. Nancy Fernandes was highly inspiring and motivating. She motivated the students to engage in their careers with dedication, compassion, and a commitment to continuous education, while highlighting the essential function of nurses within the healthcare system.
