53rd Chiplun Taluka-Level Science Exhibition and Fair Successfully Held at Sawarde; Remarkable Achievement by Dervan English Medium School
Zilla Parishad Ratnagiri Panchayat Samiti Chiplun in collaboration with Shri Vithalrao Joshi Charities Trust successfully conducted 53rd Chiplun Taluka-Level Science Exhibition and Fair from 10th to 12th December 2025 at Padmabhushan T. Ramasami Vidnyan Nagari, set up at English Medium School and Junior College of Science, Derwan–Sawarde, run by Shri Vithalrao Joshi Charities Trust. The programme commenced with a vibrant Science Dindi (procession).
The inauguration was highly impressive and innovative. A robot brought the scissors for ribbon cutting, and with the press of a button, a satellite launcher took flight, marking the formal inauguration of the science exhibition. The exhibition was inaugurated by the renowned oncologist Dr. Shripad Banavali from Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. While addressing the students, he emphasized the importance of observation and questioning, and guided them on scientific innovation, research, and the application of science for the welfare of society.
Over the three days, students from various schools across the taluka presented a total of 162 science projects on diverse themes such as health, environment, safety, energy, technology, and daily life. The projects clearly reflected the students’ creativity, curiosity, research-oriented thinking, hard work, and communication skills.
The valedictory function and prize distribution ceremony was held on 12th December in the presence of Mr. Vikas Walawalkar, Trustee of Shri Vithalrao Joshi Charities Trust. He appreciated the achievements of the students and the guidance provided by teachers, stating that such initiatives help inculcate a scientific temperament among students.
Dervan English Medium School achieved notable success in various categories at the exhibition. In the Divyang Primary Students Group, Anay Sapre, a student of Std. VIII, secured First Prize for his innovative project titled “NextGen Library”, under the guidance of Mr. Chirag Vichare. In the Secondary Students Group, Ms. Swara Patil and Ms. Sanvi Surve won Third Prize for their safety-related project “Safe Sensing System”, guided by Mr. Swapnil Golapkar. Additionally, in the Laboratory Assistant Group, Mr. Nitin Nerurkar secured First Prize for his educational and useful model on “Determination of Density of Liquids”. All three projects have been selected for the District-Level Science Exhibition.
The management of Shri Vithalrao Joshi Charities Trust congratulated all the winners as well as the participating students. This science exhibition has fostered scientific thinking, creativity, and a spirit of research among students, proving to be an inspiring platform for nurturing future scientists.
