Sangharsh Krida Mandal and Swarajya Sports ‘A’ Emerge as Champions CHIPLUN, DERVAN (Sept 20, 2026) – The 53rd Chiplun Taluka Kumar-Kumari Kabaddi Selection Trial, organized under the aegis of the Chiplun Taluka Kabaddi Association at the SVJCT’s Sports Academy, concluded in an electrifying atmosphere on Monday, September 21st, 2026. The trials received an overwhelming response from players and sports enthusiasts alike. A total of 19 teams, comprising 5 girls’ teams and 14 boys’ teams, participated in the tournament, with as many as 322 players marking their presence. The tournament was inaugurated in the presence of Chiplun Taluka Kabaddi Association President Mangesh Tambe, Working President L. K. Shinde, Secretary Vilas Gujar, Taluka Panch Pramukh Suraj Pawar, Prashant Sakpal, Rishikesh Dhagale, Sameer Kalekar, Nihar Kovale, national players Ajinkya Pawar, Bhushan Kulkarni, Swapnil Shinde and other dignitaries. In the Boys’ category, Sangharsh Krida Mandal, Chiplun delivered a power-packed performance, defeating Dasapati Krida Mandal ‘A’ by 11 points in the final. Dasapati Krida Mandal ‘A’ had to settle for the runner-up position. Waghjai Krida Mandal, Kolkewadi secured the third spot, while New Hind Vijay Sangh finished fourth. In the Girls’ category, in a nail-biting final between Swarajya Sports ‘A’ and Swarajya Sports ‘B’, Swarajya Sports ‘A’ clinched victory by a narrow margin of 2 points with a score of 20-18. Swarajya Sports ‘B’ bagged the second position, followed by Dasapati Ovali in third and Chiplun Sports Academy in fourth place. The winning teams showcased excellent teamwork and proved their mettle throughout the tournament. With this performance, the players have now qualified for the District Selection Trials to be held at Khed on September 26th and 27th, 2026. Despite continuous rainfall, the tournament could be conducted smoothly and on schedule, thanks to the state-of-the-art indoor facility and excellent floodlight system at the SVJCT Sports Complex. Secretary of Chiplun Taluka Kabaddi Association, Vilas Gujar, expressed that the world-class sports infrastructure provided by the institution made the successful organization of the 53rd Taluka Kabaddi Trials possible.
