The Kolhapur Divisional School Athletic Meet was organized at the SVJCT Sports Complex, Derwan, from 28 to 30 October 2025. A record-breaking 1,423 athletes from 8 teams (representing 5 districts and 3 municipal corporations of Kolhapur Division) participated in the event. The competition was held across under-14, under-17, and under-19 age groups for both boys and girls, and included state, national, and international-level players.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by:
- District Sports Officer Vijay Shinde
- Sports Executive Officer Aishwarya Sawant
- Sports Officers Ganesh Jagtap and Sunil Koli
- Sports Guides Sachin Mandavkar and Ganesh Khairmode
- Sandeep Tawde and Shrikant Paradkar (Ratnagiri District Athletics Association)
- Sports Teachers and other dignitaries
District Sports Officer Vijay Shinde urged all athletes to maintain self-discipline while making full use of the state-of-the-art Derwan Sports Complex. He expressed hope that Kolhapur Division athletes would excel in the upcoming State-Level School Meet (12–14 November) and qualify for the National Championships.
Speaking on the occasion, Sandeep Tawde highlighted the importance of such competitions in developing physical fitness, competitive spirit, and team unity among students. He noted that modern facilities like the Derwan Sports Complex are proving highly beneficial for rural athletes.
