A two-day Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training workshop on Clinical Research Essentials, Ethics, Regulations, and Guidelines was successfully conducted at BKL Walawalkar Rural Medical College (BKLWRMC) on 1st and 2nd May 2026. The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Durga Gadgil and Mrs. Jeroze Engineer, Independent Clinical Research Consultants with extensive experience in clinical research and regulatory practices. The program aimed to strengthen the knowledge and practical understanding of clinical research methodologies among participants.
Objectives of the Workshop:
- To provide a comprehensive overview of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) principles.
- To enhance understanding of ethical considerations in clinical research involving human participants.
- To familiarize participants with national and international regulatory requirements and guidelines.
- To promote best practices in documentation, informed consent, and data integrity.
- To encourage adherence to ethical standards and quality assurance in clinical trials.
A total of 91 participants attended the workshop, including 3 faculty members, 60 postgraduate residents, 13 DMLT students, 12 Tissue Laboratory students and staff, and 3 Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) members. The sessions were interactive and enriched the participants’ understanding of Good Clinical Practice guidelines and their application in clinical research.
The workshop was highly interactive and well-received by participants. It enhanced their understanding of GCP guidelines and strengthened their capacity to conduct ethical and scientifically sound clinical research. Participants appreciated the clarity of presentations, real-life examples, and opportunities for discussion.
Conclusion:
The GCP training workshop successfully achieved its objectives of imparting essential knowledge and practical skills related to clinical research, ethics, and regulatory compliance. Such training programs are crucial for building research capacity and ensuring adherence to ethical standards in clinical practice.
